I am K Bhaskaran

I am a 47-year old man from Ampilad, in Mangottidam panchayat, near Koothuparamba, in Kannur district, Kerala. I was born a Hindu. I used to work as a temporary employee of the telephone department. But all that came to an end one day, when a speeding vehicle crashed into me while I was working by the side of the road. The impact shattered my spine, leaving me with permanent paralysis from the waist down. I have spent the last 23 years either lying or sitting up in bed. The question that haunted me day and night was "Now what?" I was an atheist and in my despair I nearly ended my life. While I was in this hopeless situation, a woman living nearby came across a leaflet about Mohan Nair and his work at Karunya Bhavan. She sent him a letter telling him about my condition. He came to visit me several times and told me about the joy and peace there was in knowing the living God. But my rationalistic thinking had no place for such a reality, and I chose to ignore what he said. However, I had lost everything that made life worth living. In my wretchedness the question “Shall I choose death or the true and living God?” started to haunt me with increasing intensity. Five years ago, in 2005, I answered the question by receiving the Lord Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I take part in worshipping the living God on Sundays. I still live with the others at Karunya Bhavan, in joy, love and hope, seeing each other as children of one Father.
